Presaging some of the more popular post-millennial indie acts, Sneaker Pimps were blending techno beats, power chords, and pretty female vocals as far back as their critically acclaimed 1996 debut, BECOMING X, which spawned the club hit "6 Underground". Despite the success of that winning combination, Kelli Dayton's vocal chores were taken up by guitarist Chris Corner on the '99 follow-up, and the band pursued a grittier, darker vibe. Another album three years later failed to impress critics or audiences, but the group has soldiered on, recording and performing together and separately, exploring that dizzying place where electronica meets rock & roll.
