Metric

One of the many offshoots of the Toronto-based Broken Social Scene collective, Metric is a muscular blend of early-21st-century indie-rock, and pastel-shaded new wave. Fronted by keyboardist-singer Emily Haines, the band, which debuted in 2003, has a winning way with synth-driven pop hooks, best evidenced on its second album, LIVE IT OUT, which garnered a domestic gold album on its 2005 release.
