From the same fertile 'Thamesbeat' scene that spawned the Mystery Jets and the Guillemots, U.K. singer-songwriter Jamie T was London's own answer to the Streets. His debut single, "Sheila," displayed the influence of reggae and scrambled lo-fi pop, and grazed the U.K. Top 20. His profile was further boosted by a successful remix of the Gorillaz track "Kids With Guns," and his second single, "If You've Got the Money," was an even bigger hit. PANIC PREVENTION, the debut album (named after a club night he had run), furthered both T's hit-making status and his artistic credibility when it was released in early 2007.
